I have been using this laptop speaker/cooler desk for several weeks and found it is an excellent product. The fam keeps the computer and my lap cool. The speakers that are built in are excellent with a wonderful full sound. Can't say enough about it. Highly recommend it.

The Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N700 has decent audio quality but has several design flaws:

1. No USB passthrough
2. Weak flip-up stops break too easily and Logitech does not offer replacements (but they did provide a replacement unit)
3. Curved design of underside is uncomfortable and does not provide an adequate airflow channel
4. Laptop landing zone is too slippery to hold laptop securely at even the slightest angle
5. Silicone-rubber lifts that plug into slots in the fan grill and whose purpose is to increase airflow refuse to stay put

I had the shock of watching my laptop unexpectedly slide off the N700 onto the floor; the surface of the N700 is much too slippery. I remedied the slippery surface with friction tape; Logitech should address this issue.

The flip-up stops are a good idea, but their design is weak and failure-prone. I contacted Logitech about replacements; Logitech instead sent me a pair of the useless little silicone-rubber lifts that plug into slots in the fan grill, but will not stay put; the problem is the too-short tabs that are supposed to hold the lifts. Logitech finally resolved the broken flip-up stops issue by providing a replacement N700; a seventy dollar unit to replace seventy cents worth of plastic seems extravagant to me, but I am not complaining.

I bought the Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N700 in August 2011. I use it primarily with my Asus Netbook, and it is an amazing product. First of all, when the fan is on you do not hear it at all, which is always a plus. The sloped design and padded bottom make it very comfortable to work off of. The sound quality on the speakers however is what makes this thing special. Seriously, if you don't like netbook quality sound (and who does?) this is the perfect accessory. Booming audio, easy to use up/down/mute buttons, and the sturdy design make this a real winner. Don't be fooled by the "high" price - it is totally worth it.
